THE WHITE STUFF: SHOW HELPS OUT SCHOOL

-

LESSONS at a village school have extra clarity, thanks to four new classroom screens.

The screens have replaced smart boards which took over from white boards and blackboards.

Headteacher at St Nicholas Primary, Hurst, Debs McGrail said: “We’re grateful to the school’s PTA and to Hurst Show and Country Fayre who paid for two screens each.

“The screens are far more up-todate. Our previous boards were getting old and tired. We now have much sharper images and excellent sound quality, the best technology available for teaching and learning.

“The interactive screens connect to the teachers’ laptops which can connect to the internet. They’re so much better than the old boards and have enhanced learning. The children love them.”

Hurst Show and Country Fayre chair Sue Payne said: “We were delighted to help again. The show was started as a one day gymkhana in 1979 by school parents.

“School parents, staff and children still play a huge part, erecting tents, running stalls and refreshments, singing and maypole dancing.

“Last year we raised over £17,000, shared between the school, Alexander Devine hospice care for children, Wokingham Red Diamond sports for disabled people and many other local good causes.”

The show, this year on June 23 and 24, at School Road, Hurst, promises fun for all the family including the popular hobby horse show jumping, dog and classic car shows, arena events, a food fair, an art show, a bar and barbecue.

The Charmborough Ring portable belfry returns for a second year so visitors can try bell ringing.
