Colleges announce consultati­on

PUBLIC views are being sought on plans to merge a local college with another group.

Earlier this year, Bracknell & Wokingham College and Activate Learning announced plans for the venture, which they feel will be an exciting new partnershi­p between their colleges. Now the proposals are out for consultati­on.

Sally Dicketts CBE, CEO Activate Learning and Campbell Christie CBE, Principal and

CEO Bracknell & Wokingham College announced details of the proposal for Bracknell & Wokingham College to become a member of Activate Learning, joining Reading College, City of Oxford College and Banbury and Bicester College.

In a joint statement

Sally Dicketts and Campbell Christie said: “This exciting new partnershi­p will provide students, staff and employers in the area with new opportunit­ies and choices, giving access to growth and developmen­t opportunit­ies made possible by being part of a larger group with national influence.

“By joining forces we intend to harness the strengths of our two organisati­ons, bringing together four successful colleges in Berkshire and Oxfordshir­e, working together for the benefit of local learners and businesses.

“Having the support and backing of the communitie­s we serve is important to us. We would be delighted if you would read through the plans we have published and let us know your thoughts.”

The consultati­on closes on April 27.
