Keep Hatch School Parents Association
FRIDAY, March 16 was the Keep Hatch School Parents Association Quiz, postponed for two weeks due to the first Beast from the East.
Phil Cunnington has written and hosts the PA quizzes at Keep Hatch and Friday marked his 15th year in the chair.
He started in 2003 when both his daughters were at the school and has been asked back one or two times per year ever since, even though his youngest daughter left Keep Hatch School 10 years ago.
According to the Keep Hatch PA Treasurer the quiz profits during that time have reached almost £9,000 in that time (£8,630) which has been used to help the school in a variety of ways.
At the quiz on Friday, the Parent’s Association gave Phil a gift as a token of their appreciation for his dedication to helping the school over that time.
Phil said: “Some years it has been just once but most years it has been twice a year. I create multimedia quizzes which are enjoyable and they have obviously been successful as the PA keep asking me back!” He added “Although I have been asked by others, Keep Hatch School quiz is the only one I do. I take a couple of days annual leave to create each quiz and to have raised so much money for a small school is fantastic and makes it worth the effort. “
Phil’s first active involvement with the school was as a member of the action group which successfully fought to save the school’s swimming pool when Wokingham Borough Council wanted to close it in the early 2000s.
