Prime Minister opens new home care office
A NEW business dedicated to home care has been officially opened by the Prime Minister.
Last week, Theresa May visited Right at Home’s Twyford base, the company’s 50th branch to open and the second in her Maidenhead constituency.
During her visit Mrs May met with business owner
Kevin Lancaster, manager
Bailey Harrison and several team members, learning about the company’s work across Wokingham borough.
The company aims to offer highly personalised and flexible care to meet the needs of the people it supports. Right at Home says it can provide support on a short-term or long-term basis ranging from an hourly daily visit through to 24-hour live-in care, seven days a week.
As part of her visit, Mrs May spoke with the staff about the difference that appropriately timed visits can have to a client’s mental well-being and overall quality of life.
She said: “It was heart- warming to hear how passionate Right at Home’s CareGivers are about the difference they make to people’s lives.
“By being that regular visitor and building that friendly, trusting relationship with local people living safely in their own homes, they are providing them with as much independence as possible. I was wonderful to see just how much satisfaction CareGivers get from helping others.”
“Being a carer no doubt has its challenges, but the training and support provided by Kevin and his team to enable CareGivers to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society is something that should be commended.”
The Twyford team, which started supporting Clients across Wokingham District and nearby Reading in January, is the 50th branch in the growing Right at Home UK network and has quickly established a reputation for helping clients to get the most out of life.
Kevin Lancaster, who set up the business in Twyford said: “We were delighted to welcome Mrs May to our offices and were grateful that she took the time to speak with our fantastic CareGivers, who deserve huge recognition for the dedication they show to their clients’ well-being.
“Setting up a new business is a challenging but very exciting time and it’s great to know that we have the support of our local MP, as well as that of our neighbouring Right at Home offices and national team.”
The company said that it is expanding and aims to recruit another 100 ‘CareGivers’ – its name for its staff who care for its clients – in the next 12 months.
