South Berks edged out by Witney

DANIEL RAY’S 13th goal of the season did not prove to be a lucky one for South Berkshire.

Despite being joined on the scoresheet by Ben Dudley, Berks were edged out 3-2 by MBBO Regional 2 promotion hopefuls Witney.

SONNING 2s moved up to eighth in Division 1 with a 4-2 win over Wycombe 2s.

David Painter bagged a brace while Matt Poulton and Harvey Richardson were also on target.

In Division 2, Paul Kaplanski’s double helped SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s to a 5-0 thrashing of West Hampstead 3s.

Logan Russell, Desmond Sanders and Mathias Temmink also found the net as Berks leapfrogge­d their opponents up to fifth.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE 3s shook off any lingering relegation doubts with a 4-1 win at Oxford 4s in Division 3, but SONNING 3s remain in trouble after losing 4-1 to Wallingfor­d 2s.

Elsewhere, SONNING 4s, 5s and 6s all lost but SOUTH BERKSHIRE TERRIERS won 8-0 at Wallingfor­d 5s.

The South Clubs’ Women’s Division 3A season came to an end at the weekend with SONNING LADIES losing back-to-back matches.

A 3-2 loss at Reading 3s on Saturday was followed by a 2-1 home defeat by Milton Keynes on Sunday as Sonning end the season second from bottom.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE stay third in Trysports Premier 1 after a 3-2 win over neighbours SONNING 2s, who stay eighth.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s remain in the relegation zone of Premier 2 following weekend defeats at Wallingfor­d Ladies 2s, 3-1, and 2-0 at Oxford Hawks 4s.

In Division 1, SONNING 3s jumped up to fourth with a 7-2 victory over Oxford 4s while the 4s eased past Milton Keynes 3s, having lost at Amersham and Chalfont the day before.

Elsewhere, Witney Chobbah scored the only goal as SONNING VETERANS lost to Oxford 7s while strikes from Helen Robertson and Mikaele Anderson guided SOUTH BERKSHIRE 4s to a 2-1 victory at South Bucks.

SONNING 5s lost both home and away to stay fifth in Division 6.
