ONE of the most popular movies of all time is to be given the al fresco treatment in a brand-new initiative coming to a Wokingham hotel next month.

Bookings are now being taken for an open air cinema evening at the Hilton St Anne’s Manor in London Road.

The film being screened is the Patrick Swayze hit Dirty Dancing. Also starring Jennifer Grey, it is an unlikely summer romance set in a US holiday resort in the 1960s.

Originally released in the 1980s, it has gone on to become a smash-hit musical and there was even a remake last year.

It will be shown at the Hilton on Saturday, May 26 – the start of the second May bank holiday weekend.

Doors open at 7pm and guests will need to bring their own deck chair, bean bag or picnic rug to sit on. The film will start around 9pm.

Ticket holders will be able to enjoy a barbecue. Also available will be ice cream, popcorn and drinks.

Serge Rosendo, the general manager of Hilton St Anne’s Manor, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Firefly Events who are experts in pop-up cinema, utilising our 25 acres of grounds in the glorious British summer time.

“We look forward to this being the start of many more exciting outdoor events.”

Tickets cost £15 and includes entry, film showing and a welcome glass of Prosecco or two complimentary soft drinks. Event is suitable for those over 15 years of age only.
