No easing of relegation fears for Bracknell

BRACKNELL’S relegation fears remain after an Easter weekend defeat at Ivybridge.

The rearranged clash between two of the league’s strugglers was all but over by half-time as the Devon outfit stormed into a 28-7 lead.

And while the visitors bagged a try after the restart, it was not enough to pick up anything from the trip.

Bracknell made one change to their side with Chris Laidler shifting to full-back to replace the injured Gabe Hill (leg).

And playing into the wind, Daniel ap Dafydd’s side started well, but fell behind when scrum-half Ben Watts scored under the posts.

Bracknell’s response was immediate with Michael Clarke collecting the ball off the back of a driving maul to score with Vic Hardwicke converting.

But Ivybridge quickly got back ahead and picked up a bonus point before the half was out through tries from Lewis Paterson, Robin Luscombe and Billy Pinkus.

While the game was long gone, Bracknell did add a second try to the scoreboard when Clarke went over again with Laidler adding the extras.

The defeat leaves Bracknell one place and four points above the relegation places with three games to go.
