Steppin Out stars enjoy performing on TV

-

TALENTED youngsters from the borough were broadcast dancing live on telly after taking part in a special rugby match.

Students from Steppin Out Stars Of Tomorrow theatre school travelled to the London Stadium on Saturday, March 24 to take part in a pre-match routine with Britain’s Got Talent winner Tokio Myers.

They were performing ahead of the traditional London derby between Saracens and Harlequins.

The match was shown on Channel 5, and the station’s coverage also included footage of the Steppin Out team.

“It was a year’s worth of prep,” explained Shelley Otway, Steppin Out’s principal.

“We were approached by a production company who arrange massive stadium events. They were looking for children to take part in and Steppin Out got to work with professional choreographers for a week in half-term learning all the material.

“Then, on the day they worked with a major pop star!”

Steppin Out student Oliver Piff – who has attended the school for nine years – said: “The event was truly awesome.”

Classes commence at Steppin Out after the Easter break and a free taster session is offered to anyone who enjoys performing arts. For details, call Shelley on: 07970 034488 or e-mail shelley@steppinoutstars.co.uk
