Hawks thrash Eagles to soar up to fourth

HARCHESTER HAWKS jumped up to fourth in Thames Valley Division Two with a 4-0 thrashing of White Eagles.

In a tight table, goals from James Stoker, Craig Wigan, David Panter and Sean Riache sealed the win which sees Hawks leapfrog the Eagles and move to within two points of the top three.

In the same league, rockbottom HURST RESERVES earned just a third win of the season with an impressive

3-0 victory over Mortimer Reserves.

All the goals came in the second half with Ashley Lamb, Joseph Peck and Tom Harrison on target.

Up in the Premier Division, WOKINGHAM AND EMMBROOK RESERVES lost 6-2 to Woodcote Stoke Row at Lowther Road.

The runaway leaders have only lost one league game all season and cruised to victory despite Sumas goals from Matt Booth and Oliver Pritchard.

WOODLEY UNITED ROYALS also suffered a heavy defeat with Jamie Smith’s strike a mere consolation in a 4-1 defeat to Westwood United. Callum Samuel-Harman was also sent off on a day to forget for Woodley.

In Division One, FINCHAMPSTEAD piled more misery on struggling Frilsham and Yattendon thanks to quickfire goals from Nick Payne and James Payne to earn a 2-0 win.

HURST also won on the road, 3-1 at Cookham Dean Reserves with Shaun Bannon, Ryan Pownall and Dan Townson finding the net.

Lower down the leagues, Reece Brown’s early strike could not prevent a 2-1 defeat for WOODLEY UNITED A against Maidenhead Town Reserves while WOODLEY B drew 2-2 with Cintra Park Rovers thanks to goals from Jake Bartlett and Samuel Paddon.

RUSCOMBE’S perfect record was shattered by a 2-0 defeat at Berks County Rovers while AFC CORINTHIANS A lost 2-1 at Taplow United A.
