Hat-trick for Wilson as Royals take the spoils

LIAM WILSON bagged a hattrick as Woodley United Royals thrashed Taplow United 7-2 in the Premier Division.

Woodley led 4-1 at the break against the league’s bottom side thanks to two Wilson goals and strikes from Luke Blakebroug­h and Jamie Smith.

Toby Briggs and Dylan Chaffin joined the score-sheet in the closing minutes while Wilson also completed his hat-trick as Woodley secured just a fourth league win of the campaign.

In Division 1, late goals from Nick Payne and Sean Hanley earned FINCHAMPST­EAD a 2-2 draw with Maidenhead Town.

Down in Division 2, goals from Adam Parker and William Gordon kept FC WOODLEY top of the league with a 2-1 win at Marlow United Reserves while HARCHESTER HAWKS lost 2-1 at Woodcote Stoke Row Reserves despite a Dan Leather goal. TWYFORD AND RUSCOMBE are Division 4 champions after thrashing Goring United Reserves 8-1.

Having won every game this season until defeat at Berks County Rovers last week, Twyford responded in style thanks to four goals from Mikey Jones as well as strikes from Ben Claridge, Shane Westell, Sam Hickman and Rhys York. WOODLEY UNITED B sit seventh after their 1-1 draw with struggling Farnham Royal Mavericks. Timothy Green scored the only goal for the hosts.

Away from the league,

WARGRAVE won 2-1 at Highmoor Ibis Athletic in the Reading Challenge Jubilee Cup thanks to goals from Jake Jenkins and Tom Bray.
