Maths geniuses get GCSE hints and tips

-

THE MATHS geniuses were back in action again on Sunday, as the specialist classes helped pupils looking to gain grades of 8 or 9 (the same as an A* grade) in GCSE maths.

Held at Maiden Erlegh School in Earley, the Genius of Maths Tuition workshop was created to cover some of the hardest topics from the basics to advanced levels, enabling students to received detailed insights of each topic.

Areas covered included sequences and series: arithmetic, geometric, fibonacci, quadratic, functions: inverse and composite, transformation of graphs, functions: reciprocal, cubic, exponential, circular, quadratic in details and solving quadratics by drawing straight lines.

And the session also looked at the top 50 tricky questions predicted for this year’s GCSEs.

Around 25 students attended the workshop from years 10s and 11s with few bright students from Year 9s as well.

They had a good time as feedback showed: “They were very useful workshops, I learned great techniques for solving harder questions,” said a Kendrick School student.

While a Reading School pupil said: “It was a very useful session, I feel like I am already prepared to write my GCSE Exams.”

And a Maiden Erlegh pupil felt it was worthwhile session.

They said: “It feels like Maths is so easy if it’s taught in this efficient manner”.
