The Station Tap has been turned on!

-

A WOKINGHAM pub has been given a new lease of life and a change of name.

On Monday, The Station

Tap opened its doors after a £400,000 investment transformed the former Molly Millar pub, creating 10 jobs in the process.

The pub has designated areas, including a sports zone where there are new pool tables and a large screen showing football matches, and a more low-key dining area suitable for people wanting to unwind.

Local and craft beers – including Bond Brews – are available on tap from an innovative keg display and there is a special spirits emporium serving 15 different gins, premium vodkas, rums and whiskeys.

And there’s also a new look to the opening hours: The Station Tap, which is opposite Wokingham’s railway station, starts serving breakfasts from 7am, and closes at 2.30am.

Changes have also been made to the pub’s entrances, with a fire exit converted into a new way in making it easier for commuters to go from the train to the Station Approach venue.

Manager Adrian Gist also said that there was a major new sound system installed, perfect for its Rock ‘n’ Roll

Bingo sessions and Friday and Saturday night DJ parties.

“Wokingham needed a better class venue for it’s upmarket social scene” Mr Gist said.

“We are leading the way on investment into Wokingham’s daytime and night time economy.

“This is the biggest upgrade the town has seen for a long time. We’re looking to the future throwing £400,000 into creating a fabulous amenity for locals so they can stay local.”
