MORE THAN 80 people were tickled pink in Dinton Pastures on Sunday as they joined in a fun sponsored walk for a good cause.

Four Slimming World groups from across Wokingham met at the Hurst park to walk in aid of Cancer Research.

Linda, who runs the Wokingham group, said: “It was great fun, and the rain stayed away”.

Members, friends and family from the Slimming World groups from Winnersh, Wokingham, Emmbrook and

Twyford took part in the event, which saw them take part in laps around the lake. Each member walked the distance they felt was appropriate to them.

“A lot did one lap, while others went on and did two or three laps,” Linda explained.

Claire, the Consultant from the Emmbrook and Woosehill groups said, “It’s really good to do these kind of activities outside of classes, it gives members a chance to socialise and they’ll come back at the next group session and continue the conversations they started.

“We’ll do more of this each year. We’re trying to support and promote Cancer Research and take part in Slimming World’s national Walk all over Cancer annual campaign.” And many participants chose to wear brightly coloured clothes for the occasion.

“People turned up in pink who would never wear pink - there were pink hats and tutus! It was a real coming together of all the different groups with a great camaraderie. It was just a lovely day”, said Jane who runs the Winnersh group.

Linda added: “I’m pleased we all worked so closely together to help Cancer Research.”
