What advice is most sought after online?

-

AROUND mid-morning during the week (when I wrote this…) there are around 1,500 people per minute searching for advice and information on the Citizens Advice website.

The most sought after information at this time of the year is ‘How to claim compensation if your flight is delayed or cancelled’ with around 40,000 people looking this up every 24 hours.

This is followed by ‘How to apply for a blue badge (23,000 people every 24 hours), ‘Benefit calculators: what benefits can you get’ (13,000 people every 24 hours) and how to ’Contact the consumer helpline’ (11,000 people).

Just in case you are one of those 1,500 people per minute here is how to fi nd out more on the top four search topics:

Flight compensation – this depends on a number of factors; where you are fl ying to, or from, whether your flight is cancelled or how long it was delayed for. The page to fi nd out all about this is: bit.ly/ wokairdelay.

If you want to apply for a Blue Badge it is important to make sure that you only apply from your local council or from GOV.UK, as there are scam websites out there designed to part you from your money and give you nothing. The page to find out more about applying is: bit.ly/wokbb.

You will be able to get benefit advice at your local Citizens Advice. If you are over 18 and want to see what you could claim you can do it on line. There are two main online calculators and you can find out about them on this page: bit.ly/wokbencalc.

If you need help with a consumer problem the Citizens Advice consumer helpline is the place for you. You can phone them, or use an online form. This page has all the information you need to contact them: bit.ly/wokch. You can telephone them (there are some call charges), use an online form, or write to them.

Remember that you can always call into your local Citizens Advice and ask them for help. To find your local office, and how to contact them, see here: www. citizensadvice.org.uk – enter your town, or postcode, in the box in the middle of the page on the right.
