Medal success for Bulmershe
BULMERSHRE Gymnastics Club youngsters enjoyed a successful weekend at the Berkshire All Apparatus Championships.
Artistic gymnasts from across the county gathered at Montem Leisure Centre in Slough and Bulmershe triumphed with an unprecedented five all-around category victories across the 7-13 year-old age group.
Emma Kendall, 13, became the Challenge Espoir champion having won individual apparatus gold on floor, beam and bars.
Nine-year-old Zennor Tejani achieved a clean sweep across the apparatus to win the all around Level 4 category, while Mollie Haswell, 8, won all around gold in Level 5, also securing gold on beam and floor.
Reading’s Kaylee Doyle claimed the Level 3 competition, helped by an impressive beam routine which scored her 13.4 and gave her the apparatus gold.
The fifth team member to come away victorious was Caversham’s Alice Bruun, 12, who as well as winning the Level 2 junior competition also secured golds on the bars and beam.
“For our girls to have won five individual age group categories is wonderful,” said Bulmershe’s senior coach Katherine Gale.
“They work so hard and really had to concentrate to deliver their routines in this heat.”
The rest of the Bulmershe squad also delivered some impressive individual routines against tough competition from the county.
Among the stand-out displays were Sophie Marsden, winning on bars with a score of 11.95 and finishing sixth overall.
Team-mate Amelie Bowles won all around silver and gold on the vault while in a different age group Evgeniya Nikishina secured all around bronze and gold on the bars.
Mariah Licorish finished fourth, having won gold on the vault, Tienna Oakman-Charles came sixth with bronze on beam while Mia Stevenson secured bronze on the bars and finished seventh overall.
Bulmershe’s youngest competitor, seven-year-old
Bella Bunce, bounced her way to fourth in the Level 6 all around competition with a high score of 13.30 on the vault, earning her a silver medal to go with a silver for bars and bronze on the beam.
