Losing draw leaves Farley Hill facing relegation

-

FARLEY HILL look set for relegation from the Premier Division following a losing draw against Ibis Mapledurham.

With games quickly running out, Farley now have just three weeks to push their average score up from 13.62 to around the 17.7 mark to avoid slipping through the trap-door.

Their latest struggle came at home where they were set a target of 195 for victory by Mapledurham.

Ross Ditchburn (50) and Michael Sheridan (46) led the chase, but Farley closed on 133-5 after 37 overs to take just nine points from the contest.

At the other end of the table,

BERKSHIRE COUNTY SPORTS are second after picking up a winning draw against Mortimer West End.

Hasnein Akram (72), Usman Ghani Asif (33) and Rehan Akram (63) set Berks’ total at 257 all out, but Mortimer were in determined mood.

Batting out 23 overs, the visitors scored just 71 runs but Berks were forced to settle for 16 points after only taking three wickets.

WOODLEY also ended the day with a draw away at Woodcote.

Chasing 162 for victory, Fasul Nufail (71) and Rizmy Nilamdeen (38) top scored but the visitors closed on 131-1 to pick up 11 points.

Division 1 leaders SHINFIELD suffered just a second defeat of the season, going down by four wickets to WOODLEY 2s.

Amit Gandhi (49) and Prashant Gandhi (59no) top scored for Shinfield, but three wickets from Upendra Deshpande saw the leaders all out for 194.

Desphande then scored 55 with the bat, only outdone by Rohit Ranjan (66) as Woodley reached the winning post in the 40th over. TWYFORD AND RUSCOMBE are third after a losing draw at West Reading 2s.

Needing 256 for victory, Twyford

made it to 176-6 with Raz Shaik (53) and Ashish Darekar (63no) the leading batsmen.

Hawley conceded their fixture against WALTHAM ST LAWRENCE while CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD picked up the lion’s share of the spoils in their relegation battle against

EARLEY.

Chris Winch (45) and Christopher Allwright (41) led the charge as the Crows closed on 177-8 with Steven Mapes (3-33) the pick of the bowlers.

While Earley only lost two wickets in reply, knocks of 37 from Gary Shacklady and a Vinod Aduri half century could not seal a win as the visitors made it to 105-2 to earn five points to Crowthorne’s 20.

SHINFIELD 2s stay top of Division 2 following a six-wicket win over Warfield. Naqash Tahir’s knock of 113 set Shinfield on their way to another victory as they chased down the 194 required.

WOKINGHAM 6s sit second-frombottom after a heavy 128-run loss at Sulhamstead and Ufton 3s.

Steve Bendall posted bowling figures of 4-38 before Sulhamstead declared on 222-4, but Safwan Toqir’s score of 34 in reply was the only one of note for the Oaks as they were bowled out for just 94.

KNOWL HILL’S game at Welford Park was abandoned due to rain. Nick Harrison took four wickets to restrict Welford to 172 all out, but the contest was stopped with Knowl on 73-4 in reply.

Adam Postlethwaite’s six-wicket haul came in vain as SHINFIELD 3s collapsed to defeat against West Reading 4s in Division 3.

Postlethwaite took figures of 6-61, but promotion-chasing Reading posted a big tally of 297-9.

And Shinfield could get nowhere near in reply, all out for a paltry 53, a whopping 244 runs off the target.

In the same league, EARLEY 2s saw off CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD 3s by five wickets. Rob Lean (37) and Hardeep Kadloor (26) top scored as Earley were bowled out for 155 with Alistair WarnerRowley posting figures of 5-30.

Ajay Patidar scored 39 in reply, but the Crows’ score of 127-5 was not enough to take the majority of the points.

In the Chilterns League, CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD’S

clash with Ruislip Victoria was cancelled while EMMBROOK AND

BEARWOOD 2s conceded their fixture with Penn and Tylers Green 2s. EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD’S

first XI did take to the field, but were thumped by eight wickets at Pinkneys Green.

Richard Cole top scored for the Bears with 23 as they were skittled out for 49, a total easily reached by the hosts.
