A MAN from Norreys has been given an 18-week suspended jail sentence after harassing a woman.
Steven James McKellar, 46 and from Phoenix Avenue, appeared before Reading Magistrates Court on July 31, where he pleaded guilty to making his victim fear that he could use violence against her by sending Whatsapp messages to her and attending her address.
The sentence is suspended for two years, and McKellar must undertake rehabilitation courses as directed by the police. He has to pay £85 costs and £115 to victim services. He is also banned from contacting, directly or indirectly, his victim until July 30, 2020.
DRIVING at more than 100mph on Foresters Way has seen a Crowthorne man earn six points on his licence.
David Wick, 49 and from Palmer Close, was spotted driving at 106mph on the road on October 2, 2017 – the speed limit is 60mph. His vehicle was also found not to have a valid MoT certificate.
At a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on July 31, he was fined £162 for speeding and £54 for driving without an MoT and ordered to pay £150 costs and £30 to victim services.
A READING woman who stole Easter eggs from an Earley newsagent has been ordered to undertake a rehabilitation activity.
Angela Christine Stevens, 33 and from Salcombe Road, pleaded guilty to a string of offences when she appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on July 30.
On April 15, she stole four meat steaks worth £20 from the Sonning Cutting Filling Station, London Road, Woodley. She was ordered to pay £40 compensation for this offence and £85 to victim services
On February 15, she stole Easter eggs and toys worth £100 from Martins McColl in Chalfont Way, Earley. For this offence she was ordered to pay £150 compensation.
There was a second charge for stealing Easter eggs and toys worth £50 from the same newsagent on the same day
On March 5, stole meat worth £37.40 from the M&S BP garage on Reading Road, Winnersh.
She was ordered to pay £90.75 compensation.
On March 16, stole meat worth £53.35 from the same service station
On July 26, she failed to appear at Reading Magistrates Court and received a fine of £50
Stevens breached a conditional discharge on April 14.
A MAN from Wokingham has been fined £380 and given six points on his licence after being stopped for driving without insurance, and for speeding.
Umer Arshad, 20 and from Waterloo Road, was driving in Reading when police caught him on April 20 driving faster than 30mph on Forbury Road.
He pleaded guilty at a hearing held at Reading Magistrates Court on August 1.
He was fined £200 for driving without insurance and £180 for speeding. He also had to pay £85 costs and £30 to victim services.
A READING man has been fined £690 for driving while over the limit and without insurance.
Wayne Daniel Down, 28 and from Arnett Avenue, was stopped by police on Danywern Drive on July 13.
He was found to have 77 millilitres of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath and no insurance.
Down pleaded guilty when he appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on August 1. He was fined £540, ordered to pay £85 costs and £54 to victim services for drink driving, and £150 for driving without insurance.
Down was also banned from driving for 18 months, which will be reduced by 18 weeks if he undertakes a safe driving course.
AN EARLEY woman who denies driving without valid insurance will face trial on October 8.
Donna Kay Wallace, 56 and from Mill Lane, pleaded not guilty at a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on August 2.
She is alleged to have driven a car on the M4 by Junction 12 on October 26, 2016.
A WOODLEY man caught in possession of heroin has been given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
Steven John Lewendon, 49 and from Howth Drive, was stopped by police on February 5 this year in Woodley. Reading Magistrates Court heard, on August 2, that he had a quantity of diamorphine, a class A drug.
Lewendon pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £65 costs and £20 to victim services, at a rate of £20 a month.
A SHINFIELD man who stole dog bedding and bowls from a Reading pet shop has been fined £100.
David James Beckford, 30 and from Laburnum Gardens, pleaded guilty to the theft from Pets at Home in Brunel Retail Park on August 2. The items were worth £42.50.
At a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on August 3, Beckford admitted breaching an 18-month conditional discharge imposed on him for shoplifting on June 12. No action on the breach was taken and the order is to continue.
Beckford also has to be pay £30 to victim services.
BREACHING a restraining order has seen a Wokingham man serve a four-week prison sentence.
At hearing on August 3, Reading Magistrates Court learnt that
Liam Alan Turton, 28 and from Medina Close, had been found at the home of a person he had been prohibited from contacting followed a restraining order that
had been imposed on him by Bucks Magistrates Court on December 13 last year.
The overall length of sentence is now 12 weeks’ imprisonment. Turton was also ordered to pay £115 to victim services.
A READING man stopped for driving without insurance has been given six points on his licence.
Ricky Randall Lawrence, 50 and from London Road, was driving along the A329 London Road in Wokingham on January 29 when he was stopped by police.
Although previously pleading not guilty, Lawrence changed his plea for his appearance at Reading Magistrates Court on August 3.
In addition to the penalty points, he was fined £250, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 to victim services.
A MAN from Twyford has been fined £300 and given seven points on his driving licence after being involved in an accident.
On December 23 last year, William Thomas Jeffrey, 25 and from Pennfields, failed to report the incident that took place on Waingels Road. Another person was injured.
Jeffrey pleaded guilty at the hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on August 3 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 to victim services.
DRIVING an unlicensed vehicle saw Brandon Fisher fined £220.
On August 3, Reading Magistrates Court heard that the 25-year-old from Bowyer Crescent had been stopped in Reading on January 11 this year. Fisher was not present for the hearing, and was ordered to pay £200 costs, £25 compensation and back duty for the car tax.
A MAN from Spencers Wood who kept a vehicle without paying the appropriate road tax has been fined £220.
The vehicle was seen on December 14 last year.

Askew Drive, wasn’t at Reading Magistrates Court on August 3 when his case was proved in his absence. He was ordered to pay costs of £200 and compensation of £20.
A TWYFORD man who damaged a cupboard door has been ordered to carry out community service.
Reading Magistrates Court heard that on August 3 Christopher John Richards, 35 and from Crest Close, had damaged the door at a Woodley property belonging to a housing association.
On the same day, he destroyed a wardrobe in the same property.
He was ordered to carry out a rehabilitation order for a maximum of 12 days, as directed by responsible officers and has to pay £85 costs and £85 to victim services.
Richards is also prohibited from entering the Woodley street where the incident took place until August 5, 2020, save for one occasion when he can collect belongings as long as he is accompanied by a police officer.
