Moore the merrier as Moles pick up points
Binfield 3 Brackley Town Saints 1
SEAN MOORE continued his fine season in front of goal as Binfield swept aside Brackley to pick up a much-needed league victory.
The Moles have impressed in both the FA Cup and FA Vase this season, but went into Monday’s clash at Hill Farm Lane with just seven points from their opening five Hellenic Premier matches.
However, goals from Moore, James Knight and Eddie Lee put the hosts 3-0 up at half-time and the win was comfortably secured despite a second-half Lewis Baldwin penalty.
Boss Roger Herridge made four changes from the weekend FA Cup win over Buckland with Bracknell Town dual registration duo Jamie McClurg and Dave Hancock not involved while Jack Thomson-Wheeler and Carlo Santoro also dropped out.
Lewis Leonetti, Will Shaw, Charley Tuttle and Danny Horscroft all came into the side while Herridge called on another Bracknell man, Carl Withers, to name among the substitutes.
And the Moles moved in front after just 11 minutes when skipper Knight found the net.
That lead was quickly doubled with Moore bagging his fourth goal in three games.
Minutes later it was 3-0 as Lee continued to fill the void left by injured striker Ian Davies by knocking in to leave Brackley with a mountain to climb.
The visitors did pull a goal back late on when substitute Baldwin scored from the penalty spot, but Binfield picked up all three points.
Herridge’s men go to AFC Stoneham in the FA Vase on Saturday (3pm). BINFIELD: Grace, Shaw, Brown, Smith, Leonetti, Tuttle, Knight (c), Horscroft (Withers 76), Johnson (Santoro 80), Moore, Lee (Downes 70). Sub not used: Gavin. Attendance: 83.
