Artists’ autumn showcase

- By PHIL CREIGHTON

MEMBERS of the Woodley and Earley Arts Group displayed the fruits of their labours last weekend.

The group took over The Oakwood Centre in Woodley for their autumn exhibition on Friday and Saturday.

Friends, family and art lovers flocked to the Headley Road centre to admire the paintings, prints and exhibits all created by members of the group.

And much of the work was available to buy, allowing visitors to take home affordable, but beautiful, pictures, in a range of mediums.

The group’s president, Mike Pendicott, was delighted with the show.

“It’s one of the most successful,” he told The Wokingham Paper. “It’s gone very well and there’s been a great atmosphere.

“The standard has been really high this year and the public has reacted really well to the works.”

The group holds regular meetings at The Oakwood Centre on the last Thursday of the month, and covers all media: oils, watercolours, acrylics and pastels. There are also one-day workshops held regularly at the Pearson Hall in Sonning.

The group will meet this evening and Frank Walters will give a demonstration in watercolour landscapes.
