Kind Holly is top of the chops

- By JAMES HASTINGS

HOLLY COLVILLE is a cut above the rest when it comes to helping others.

The youngster had 12 inches of her hair chopped off to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Holly, 10, only ever had her long locks tidied up, rather than trimmed but decided to take the plunge after her mum’s friend became ill.

“She lost all her hair because of cancer and it made me sad,” explained Holly.

“I know a lot of young people my age become ill and lose their hair so I wanted to do something to help.”

Holly, who attends the Coombes School in Arborfield, went to Zappas in Peach Street, Wokingham with Mum, Annette.

“At first I was very excited then halfway through I had a bit of a cry,” added Holly.

“I thought I looked so different but I carried on because I knew my hair would help someone else.

“I like my new look. I might grow my hair again but I’ll wait and see.”

Mum Annette said she supported her daughter’s hair raising idea.

“Holly did have a bit of a wobble halfway through but the stylists were great. They showed her pictures of how her short hair would look.

“This was something she wanted to do. I am so proud of her.

“I think she looks lovely and she has received lots of compliments from friends and family. I think her teachers might get a surprise when she returns to school.”
