Single game weekend as team goes on the road

-

IT’S A single game weekend for the Berkshire Cycles Bracknell Bees this weekend with their only encounter being on the road in Kent against the Invicta Dynamos.

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Dynamos and the Bees have already taken the points both home and away from the two previous encounters and head into this weekend on the back of a shutout for Danny Milton last Saturday and another for Dean Skinns last Sunday.

While the Bees enjoyed 1-0 and 2-0 wins over Streatham and Basingstoke last weekend the Dynamos went down 5-3 in Basingstoke on Saturday before a 2-9 loss on home ice the following night against Peterborough.

Head coach Kevin Parrish made a number of changes to his team over the summer including the signings of former Bees Matt Foord and Callum Best. Former Peterborough Phantoms import Martin Susters also joined and brothers Cameron and Grant Bartlett have both stepped up from NIHL2 with Chelmsford Chieftains together with Brandon Miles signing from Streatham. Goaltender Adam Long took over the starting netminding duties from the departed Damien King.

Ahead of this weekend’s game Bees Head coach Doug Sheppard also announces that Niko Suoraniemi has departed the club. Niko departs with the club’s thanks for his short time with the Bees and best wishes for the future.

On the roster change Doug commented; “David brings speed and skill to our lineup, I was impressed with his game considering he didn’t play last season. I really liked his work ethic and only see improvement once he knocks off the rust.

“I would like to thank Niko for his efforts and wish him the best for the future. He was very professional and had a great attitude. With David previously playing two seasons on defence he really ticks all the boxes.”

Looking ahead to the weekend he added; “With only the one game this weekend it’s crucial we pick up the points in Invicta. We played well last weekend and we need to keep that going this weekend.”

Bees sole game this weekend is a 5.15pm face-off at Gillingham.
