Time management tips

- Personal fitness with Chris Hunt

AS promised; this week I want to continue on our journey of the case studies we have been focusing on and try and discover some more methods that are really ACE. Last week we covered Meditation and Self Hypnosis.

As you will remember the areas we are going to cover over the next few weeks are: MEDITATION, SELF HYPNOSIS, GUIDED VISUALISATIONS, TIME MANAGEMENT, OWNING YOUR MORNING, DEEP BREATHING, COGNITIVE CUES, AFFIRMATIONS, TALKING WITH OTHER POSITIVE PEOPLE, TAKE STOCK OF YOUR LIFE EVERY WEEK AND REVIEW and JOURNALLING. This week we will cover GUIDED MOTIVATIONS and TIME MANAGEMENT.

Being present and focused is so much more than just trying hard and trying to target one thing. For me, it is a state of being; it is a conscious state of awareness and calmness even when things around you are a bit crazy. I constantly work on this area of my life and try and dedicate around 30 minutes a day to it, yes 30 minutes.

If you want something bad enough and want to improve something enough you can always find the time for it and this brings us nicely to the first case study this week… GUIDED VISUALISATIONS.

One of my former clients had a big boxing match coming up earlier in the year. He really wanted to win and after coming off a loss in his last fight he really desired the result to be a WIN.

After some lengthy chats and some priming at the start of the session, we went for some serious VISUALISATION work. Troy knew the arena he would be boxing in, he knew the crowd noise, the areas of the arena where his friends would be sat. Troy also knew what the referee would say when he announced the win and he knew what he would do straight after it.

This made our job really easy as we visualised all those things and Troy winning the match. Basically the brain cannot tell the difference between a real event and something you are actually creating in your mind. Now obviously we cannot time hop and jump ahead in time but we can play with our brain. This takes repetition and some serious focus but it is fun and actually gives results.

This technique can be used in many situations and I have also used this with another client when he had some very important presentations coming up. It helps with awareness and being focused ahead of time which is never a bad thing to be right?

Think visualisations could be for you? Get involved and start thinking how you can get your brain working for you.

TIME MANAGEMENT is our next method. Now, when it comes to being present and focused, having good time management skills really does take you to the next level. I published a social media post on my Facebook page last week and it said:

“Time management is LIFE management so guard your time with great care.”

This case study revolves around an online client of mine who for some time had really struggled with managing his diary and saying NO to things. His calendar was non-existent, he was still using paper and a pen to remind him about things and he always said YES to questions that he actually needed to say NO to.

First of all he downloaded a calendar app on his phone and spent about an hour inputting all important information into it. This calendar has now become one of his most used apps on his phone and he enjoyed using it. You don’t actually need a phone as you can use a physical calendar but for me, doing it digitally is much easier. Having ownership of your diary and life really does help with being present and focused.

Next we focused on his YES mentality.

Now I believe that saying Yes is really important as it is nice and positive and makes things happen but sometimes it’s not actually going to help.

My client had a habit of saying Yes to work commitments when he already had family commitments booked in. This meant he got stressed, was not focused and couldn’t concentrate on either task.

One of the first things we did is work out his core values and his life mission statement.

I have done this with many of my clients and it is a truly awesome tool. After doing this exercise, my client started saying NO more often as he was living coherently with his goals. They were aligned and all parties respected him more as they all knew where they stood at all times.

Give it a go and start making TIME MANAGEMENT a core area. Remember… “Time management is LIFE management so guard your time with great care.”

There we have it.

Two more amazing methods for you to become more focused, more present and therefore more AWESOME. Like I said last week: I want you inspired.

I want you motivated.

I want you interested and then I want you COMMITTED.

Can you do that for me?

Can you do that for YOU?

I know you can. Have a great week and let’s keep being awesome and being the best version of YOU.
