Supermarket sweep is charity draw prize

- By PHIL CREIGHTON

ANYONE who has ever fancied taking part in Supermarket Sweep can have their chance thanks to anew contest organised by Wokingham Lions.

The charity has teamed up with Sainsbury’s Winnersh to offer the lucky winner of their festive draw the chance to go wild in the aisles and stock up on Christmas treats.

The group is now selling tickets to win the chance to take part in a trolley dash round the supermarket on Sunday, December 2. The winner can fill their baskets over a threeminute period, and whatever they add in is theirs to take, up to the value of £300.

The trolley dash will take place at 9am on Sunday, December 9 – before the store opens.

Organiser Patrick Allen said that a raffle ticket was good value for money while also helping good causes.

He said: “Please support our festive Trolley Dash. The cost of a raffle ticket is just £2 for a chance to win up to £300 of groceries in time for Christmas.

“All proceeds go to support local charities and individuals in need.”

To ensure members of the public can get their hands on a ticket, they will be selling them at Sainsbury’s, off King Street Lane, on Friday and Saturday this week and Friday, November 30 through to Sunday, December 2.

Raffle tickets are also available from the Customer Service Desk at Sainsbury’s and there will also be the chance to buy a ticket on Sunday at the Winter Carnival in Wokingham Town Centre.

The draw for the winning Trolley Dash contestant will take place on Sunday, December 2, at 4pm at Sainsbury’s.

Then, the winner will have five minutes to plan their route just before the dash at 9am a week later.

The Lions said that terms and conditions apply, including no clothing, general merchandise, electrical, alcohol or tobacco products. Only one item of each product allowed. No discount cards or Nectar cards allowed.

The winner will be given one trolley and can collect another one, if needed.
