Double brace sees Wokingham ease past Wargrave

-

CAROLINE SHEPHARD and Caroline Paterson both scored twice each as Wokingham and Emmbrook Ladies eased past Wargrave Ladies at Lowther Road.

The neighbouring clubs were level on points heading into the Southern Women’s Division One contest, but it was the Sumas who ran out comfortable winners.

Ciara Anderson netted the consolation for the visitors as Wokingham jump up to sixth in the table.

Up in the Premier Division, WOODLEY UNITED LADIES are winless in five games after being pegged back by Winchester City Flyers.

Nicole Haines enjoyed a fine first half in the Woodley goal to keep the scores goalless at the break.

And it was United who got in front after the restart when Jodie Penny followed up Rosie PageSmith’s saved shot to tuck in.

Page-Smith was then denied by the crossbar before the lead was doubled through substitute Laura Harris-Steers, who headed in.

Woodley retained their two-goal cushion until the final 10 minutes when Winchester grabbed a point with a Charlotte Warhurst penalty and stoppage time Hannah Chaffey strike.

EVERSLEY AND CALIFORNIA LADIES are out of the Hampshire Senior Cup following their 4-2 defeat against Widbrook United Women at Fox Lane while BINFIELD LADIES also suffered cup disappointment.

A Ruth Bowerman hat-trick and Natalie White strike earned a 4-4 draw for Binfield against Holyport Ladies, only for them to lose the resulting penalty shoot-out to exit the Berks and Bucks Cup.
