Meet Jingle at the Winter Carnival

-

IT’S JINGLE all the way for people coming to Wokingham’s Winter Carnival on Sunday: one of the star attractions is going to be a very special reindeer.

Said to be one of the cutest ever seen – well, this side of Rudolph and his red nose – Jingle is a special lifelike puppet reindeer and he’s sure to put a smile on even Scrooge’s face as the borough’s festive season gets under way.

And Jingle is the perfect guest for this year’s street fair, one of the south east’s largest: the theme is Love Wokingham: A Winter Wonderland, neatly combining the new-look Market Place with the

Created by Michael Crouch and Jamie Duncombe of the large-scale puppet company, Creature Encounter, Jingle will be visiting Wokingham’s town centre throughout Sunday, ready to greet young and old alike.

And organisers couldn’t be happier.

In a statement, Wokingham Winter Carnival committee member, Cathy Valentine from Circus Scene, said: “I’m sure

Jingle is going to be a big hit with everyone coming along to the Winter Carnival and great fun for both children and adults.“I’ve worked with Michael, who is originally from Earley, for many years when he spent summers entertaining festival and carnival audiences by balancing on tightropes, stilts and unicycles.

“We are so excited that we have managed to book Michael and Jamie this year.”

And with Market Place back in action, there will be a host of activities to enjoy besides meeting Jingle.

There will be a fun fair, more 120 food, craft and charity stalls – including The Wokingham Paper – non-stop entertainment including a magic show, a Punch and Judy show, comedy jugglers, clowns, morris dancers, carol singers, musicians, a parade, a Festive Dash and a laser show.

Youngsters who have designs on their Christmas stocking can whisper into Santa’s ear when they see him in a specially made grotto in Wokingham Library in Denmark Street between 11am and 3pm.

And there is also a chance to meet Tom Baker, the creator of the snow windows, thanks to David Cliff estate agents.
