Kestrels dumped out of cup by Holyport
Woodley United 2 Holyport 4
WOODLEY exited the Subsidiary Cup with defeat to Holyport on Monday evening.
Coming into the game unbeaten in three matches, the muchchanged Kestrels scored twice through Toby Briggs and Leon Mannion, but could not avoid the loss.
Due mainly to unavailability, boss Jon Laugharne made seven switches from the weekend win over Wokingham and Emmbrook, but his side traded blows with Holyport in the early stages.
Fabian Driffill had fired the visitors in front, but it was level inside 10 minutes when Briggs notched his second goal of the season after being teed up by Harry Hawkins.
Moments later some individual brilliance from Mannion almost got the home side in front as he crashed a shot against the crossbar.
Holyport, now unbeaten in six games, retook the lead before the break when Lee Ovens headed in and they moved 3-1 up with a counter-attack goal in the second half with Driffill again netting.
Mannion set up a grandstand finish with an 85th minute goal, but Holyport sealed the win shortly afterwards thanks to Alan
Ackerman.
