Views wanted over crossroads revamp plan

-

THE COUNCIL has launched an appeal to residents to join in a consultation over plans to revamp California Crossroads.

And to ensure residents voices are heard, it is organising an exhibition event that will take place three times over the coming week.

The first will be between 8.30am and 12.30pm this Saturday and then again on Monday between 2pm and

8pm and on Tuesday from 9am to 1pm. Each of the sessions will be held at Finchampstead Baptist Church Centre, Gorse Ride.

The project, Wokingham Borough Council says, will re-design of California Cross Road at the junction of Finchampstead Road and

Nine Mile Ride Road to form what it hopes will be a key focus point for businesses, schools and residents in the area.

Cllr Anthony Pollock, executive member for highways and transport said: “This area is right at the heart of a local community with the primary school, the nursery school, the post office, restaurants, and many other facilities and we want to work with the community to create a place that benefits local business owners and residents where pedestrians, cyclists and vehicle traffic can co-exist.”

Feedback can be provided either at the event or via the California Cross portal on the Wokingham Borough Council website. A duration of four weeks has been made available to provide feedback and comments, and therefore these will need to be submitted by January 4, 2019.

The online survey can be found by visiting www. wokingham.gov.uk and searching ‘California Cross’
