FATAL STABBING IN SHINFIELD ON BOXING DAY

- By PHIL CREIGHTON news@wokinghampaper.co.uk

THE family of a woman found dead in a Shinfield home on Boxing Day have said that she was a “kind and generous person” who lived life to the full.

Mother-of-one Angela Mittal (pictured) was 41 and from Shinfield. She, along with husband Laurens Brand, moved in to the new Shinfield Meadows development in the summer. They had previously been living in Rotterdam but moved to be closer to her family.

Police were called to the couple’s home in Parker Close on Tuesday, December 26, around 5.40am after she was found dead at the scene. A post-mortem last Thursday concluded that she died of stab wounds.

A tent was erected outside the front door of the home, and forensic police were seen inspecting upstairs rooms in their search for clues.

Mr Brand, aged 47, of Parker Close, Shinfield, has been charged with one count of murder. He appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing, and at Reading Crown Court yesterday.

Thames Valley Police released a statement on behalf of Angela’s family.

They said: “Angela Mittal, age 41, passed away on Tuesday, December 26.

“She was born in England, to Bharat and Kamla Mittal. “Angela was a kind and generous person who truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family and, most importantly, spending time and playing with her son.

“Angela had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

“Angela lit up the room with a big smile on her face – always putting the needs of others before her.

“She is survived by her loving parents; her sisters; her brothers-in-law, and her beloved son.”

The family have asked for privacy.
