Yobs pour face cream on shopper

A STUDENT home for the Christmas holidays had an unwelcome return after being the victim of a malicious assault, writes Kate Nicholson.

The 19-year-old woman – who did not want to be named – was shopping in Boots on Monday when the attack happened just before 3pm.

She said that two teenage girls poured face cream on to the student’s head while she was browsing the skincare aisle, despite having not made any kind of contact with these girls before she was attacked.

With her back to the attackers, the student had cream poured all over her coat and hair, with some even reaching her face, just missing her eyes.

She turned and addressed the girls, whom she had never seen before and said: “What do you think you’re doing?”

She said that she then received further abuse from the attackers, who called her a “cow”, provocatively asking “what are you going to do?” and “where’s mum gone?”

While the victim was left in a state of shock, the girls, who she thinks were approximately 17 years, walked out of the shop.

Staff from the Broad Street store in Wokingham rushed to her aid.

The victim praised them, saying they were all “incredibly apologetic” and “really helpful” in removing the cream, which had gone everywhere.

The student has lived in Wokingham all of her life, having attended the local secondary school, the Holt, and currently studies at the University of Bath.

She says this one random incident reflects a larger, growing problem with Wokingham’s youth: “Every time I come home from uni, my mum has another story [of antisocial behaviour] to tell me.”

She continued: “I’ve lived here all my life and it’s never been anything like this.

“It’s such a shame this is happening to our generation, and they just think they can get away with it.”
