Energy company offers warm home discount scheme

-

PEOPLE in the borough are being urged not to be left in the cold this winter.

Energy giant SSE is encouraging customers in the south of England to apply for a £140 discount on their winter heating bills through the Warm Home Discount.

The scheme will close in just over two weeks so customers who think they might be eligible should get in touch.

As part of the Government scheme, SSE has made millions of pounds available to customers to help with their heating bills over the winter.

Those eligible include those or their partner receiving certain benefits, or if they suffer from a long-term illness, are disabled or are on a low income.

Gareth Wood, Customer Service Operations Director at SSE said: “We know the winter months can be concerning for some households as the colder nights set in and the heating comes on. That’s why we’re urging customers to get in touch with us if they think they might be eligible for financial assistance under the Warm Home Discount.

“There’s a discount of £140 available for customers who receive certain qualifying benefits or who have a low income. However, there is a limit on the number of people that can receive the discount and applications are due to close soon. If a customer thinks they might fit the description they should get in touch as soon as possible to make sure they can get this help.”

All in all an estimated 300,000 SSE customers should receive the rebate this winter.
