Kirsty does this by halves

-

KIRSTY Payne never likes to do things by half – unless she’s raising money for charity.

Now Kirsty, from Shinfield, is under starters orders to add to the £4,000 she has already run up for different good causes.

She is set to take part in her sixth half marathon in just four years with the proceeds going to Age Concern in Twyford.

Kirsty, 39, will run the Reading halfmarathon in March with her partner, Chris, also 39, and not even the current cold snap has halted their weekly training schedule.

“We are doing around four five miles runs a week and it is cold,” she said. “But it’s not that long until March and we want to make sure we are ready.”

Kirsty only took up running four years ago after her best friend, Katy, died from breast cancer.

“Katy fought the disease with a lot of courage and went through a hard time.

“I ran to raise funds for cancer research and have been sponsored for other charities since then.

“I work as a care giver for Right at Home Reading and Wokingham and help out once a week at Age Concern in Twyford. The day centre relies purely on donations without which it wouldn’t be able to operate.

“Everyone there has been very supportive and while I have set a target of £500, I hope to do more.”
