Blue Cross provides help for pet owners when they cannot afford vet bills, rescue and rehome pets, counsellin­g for pet bereavemen­t and educating children about looking after their pets.

Volunteers will be required to get involved with all aspects of helping in the shop.

The charity are looking for people with good communicat­ion and customer service skills and must be well organised.

Shifts are 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm Monday to Saturday.

Abbeyfield Winnersh is part of the Abbeyfield Society Charity which was set up 60 years ago with its main aim to reduce isolation in older people.

Abbeyfield Winnersh is a specialist Dementia Residentia­l Home. Volunteers must be reliable, patient and have good communicat­ion skills.

They are looking for volunteers to sit and chat with residents or play cards, maybe just to sit and colour with them. The main thing is the company.

Experience with dementia is not essential as training will be provided.

ASSIST supports young people in Wokingham Borough from 12 years-18 years who are on the autistic spectrum.

They have two groups that meet once a month on a Saturday and once a month on a Sunday.

The boys group meets once a month on a Saturday from 11.15am-2.15pm in Woodley. A volunteer is required to spend time chatting to the young people, playing games, pool, football etc. The girls group meets once a month in Wokingham on a Sunday from 11am3pm and a volunteer is needed to spend time chatting to the girls and playing games etc

The WADE day centre opened in 1974 and provides a healthy two-course meal for members.

Chiropody and hairdressi­ng services are available as well as many social activities such as quizzes, bingo, raffles, exercises, summer fairs, parties etc.

They need help from volunteers over the lunchtime period during the week, with serving the meals and in the afternoon with chatting to the members as well as playing games, doing arts and crafts etc.
