Festive Antinks

-

CHRISTMAS may have ended a month ago, but Lynne Antink just can’t get it out of her head.

At least, she can’t forget one particular seasonal song which would send even Santa back up the chimney. But Lynne, and her son Colin, are just glad that Slade’s Merry Christmas has helped bring a special gift to the Thames Hospice.

The duo drove a double buggy around Wokingham in December to raise money for the charity.

“I was Santa while Colin was a reindeer and my carer. Linda Kaye, ran alongside the scooter, wearing a polar bear outfit,” smiled Lynne. “We played Christmas songs over and over, in particular one by Slade. I can still hear it now.

“In the end it was worth it because wherever we went, the people of Wokingham were very generous. We collected £109.44 for the hospice.

The good thing is, none of it is used for admin, but goes straight to patient care.”

The mother and son combo are well known for their fundraising schemes and not just at Christmas.

Added Lynne: “We really love going round the town in our Christmas outfits but I think I will need to invest in a new Father Christmas suit.

“The double buggy is a real blessing as my eyesight means I can’t drive one on my own. Colin and I would like to thank the people of Wokingham and Linda my carer, for their help and generosity on the day.”
