Clarinetti­st Nathan to perform in church

A LUNCHTIME concert will take place in Arborfield Green early next month.

St Eligius Community

Church is inviting people to hear a performanc­e by clarinetti­st Nathan Winters and pianist Ross Winters.

Nathan has played the clarinet since primary school and attended The Purcell

School as a sixth former and the Royal College of Music as a Foundation Scholar. He has performed throughout the UK including Buckingham Palace, St James’ Piccadilly, and St Pancras Church.

He is now principal clarinet of the Farnboroug­h Symphony Orchestra, guest Principal clarinet with the Surrey Mozart Players and a member of the Blackwater Valley Wind Quintet.

Ross Winters is an expert in the recorder and was Professor of Recorder at the Royal College of Music and Head of

Recorder at Birmingham Conservato­ire.

He has performed at main London venues, recorded for BBC Radio 3 and made two

CDs of 20th century English recorder music. He has also played the piano for 60 years.

Their programme includes four of Gerald Finzi’s Five Bagatelles (Prelude, Romance, Carol and Forlana), the expressive third Movement: Rondo Allegretto of Francois Devienne’s Première Sonata, the intriguing­ly titled Prelude 6.52am by taward-winning composer Elizabeth Winters, and André Messager’s Solo de Concours, composed as a Paris Conservato­ire Contest piece.

After the concert there will be a buffet lunch for which places should be booked by Tuesday, February 5.

Entry is free, but there will be a retiring collection.

It takes place on Thursday, Feburary 7 from 12.30pm.
