Boars pegged back by rock-bottom Cove

Eversley and California 2 Cove 2

MATT ANGELL is still waiting for his first win as Boars boss after his side were pegged back by rock-bottom Cove.

Brad Brown’s brace looked to be setting Eversley on their way to a first victory since November, only for Cove to score twice in the second half through Ryan Davis and Michael Flounders to rescue a point.

Angell made four changes from the side which lost at Dorking as Stuart Clark, Leon Yeoman, William Corbishley and George Jones all came in.

Cove, who clinched just their third league win of the season the previous weekend and boasted former Binfield centreback Lewis Leonetti in their line-up, started well and hit the post early on.

But Eversley took the lead on 15 minutes when Brown tucked in from the penalty spot after Jordan Goater had been fouled.

That lead was doubled soon after when the Boars broke at speed and netted again when Brown scored for the ninth time this season having been teed up by Sam Knight.

Good work at the other end from Clark and Ryan Whyte preserved the clean sheet going into half-time, but Cove quickly responded to halve the deficit after the restart.

Angell turned to his bench, introducing Bradley Charles, Peter Shay and George Dance in quick succession, but Cove netted again in the final 10 minutes to take a share of the spoils.

Eversley’s cup clash against Hanworth Villa on Tuesday night was postponed.

The Boars return to action on Saturday, away at British Airways in the league (3pm). EVERSLEY: Clark, Dickie, Whyte,

Shade, Yeoman (Charles), Cooper, Corbishley, Goater, Jones (Shay), Knight (Dance), Brown.
