Kestrels given a burn by Burnham

WOODLEY took an early lead, but still became the latest victims of runaway leaders Burnham.

Now unbeaten in 14 league matches since August, Burnham trailed at Rivermoor to a Max Laschok strike before eventually pulling clear to win 4-1 and go 15 points clear at the top.

Jon Laugharne made just two changes from the Reading Senior Cup defeat against Ardley with Luke Axton-Hall and Leon Mannion replacing Freddie Barron and Harrison Moore.

And Mannion wasted little time in making an impact, teeing up Laschok to fire in his 12th goal of the season.

Mannion then picked out Pablo Fernandez soon after, but the winger missed the target.

But the good start was undone on 13 minutes when Lucas Sinclair came in from the left wing to score.

Both sides then missed chances to take the lead as the first half ended level.

However, Burnham were soon ahead after the restart, netting from a counter attack with Sinclair again on target.

Chace Jewell went close in reply before the hosts were awarded a penalty for a foul on Laschok, only for the decision to be overturned following consultation with the assistant referee.

And the visitors took full advantage, opening up a two-goal cushion midway through the half when Dean Allen followed up a Tom Bryant save to score.

Mannion lobbed a shot just wide at the other end as Woodley looked for a way back into the contest before Ollie Harris wrapped up the win for Burnham.

Woodley, who sit 11th in the table, go to Thame Rangers in the league on Saturday (3pm) before a Supplementary Cup trip to Milton United on Tuesday (7.45pm).

WOODLEY: Bryant, Malone, Hawkins, Axton-Hall (Alexander 70), Hagger, Barnard, E. Thomas, Fernandez, Jewell, Mannion (Swabey 70), Laschok (Briggs 82). Subs not used: Wilson, H. Moore. Attendance: 31
