Unlucky 13 for leaky Binfield

Bishop’s Cleeve 6 Binfield 3

-

BINFIELD took their goals conceded tally to 13 in just three matches after shipping six more at Bishop’s Cleeve.

The Moles have a good recent record in Gloucestershire, but have been on a wretched run of form which saw them head to Kayte Lane on the back of 3-0 and 4-0 losses in their previous two matches.

Again without first choice goalkeeper Chris Grace, Binfield fell behind after just 17 seconds when Kevin Slack turned in.

But the Moles responded to quickly level through former Eversley and California man Stephen Peacock.

The hosts defended well to stay level and that gave them the chance to edge in front by half-time after Slack scored from the penalty box following a foul on Ryan New.

The game was again level nine minutes after the restart when Ian Davies fired in from distance.

However, the joy was short-lived with the Mitres taking the lead for the third time through Bradley Martin, only for the crazy contest to quickly deliver a sixth goal as Josh Howell smashed in.

Bishop’s Cleeve regrouped and raced to victory in the closing stages, scoring three more times to win 6-3 with Elliot Kennedy, Ashley Davies and Martin to clinch victory.

“Hard to be positive after shipping six goals and losing again,” said boss Roger Herridge.

“But that score-line is not a fair reflection of the game.

“A clinical Bishop’s Cleeve side exposed our weaknesses and punished us.

“Football has a habit of kicking you in the teeth when you’re down. Testing my resolve at the moment.”
