Wokingham Today

Start your day the positive way

-

WHAT do you want to achieve in your life? What do you want in your life that you do not currently have?

What needs to happen to make that one thing happen?

What small step could you take today to move you towards achieving that goal we set above?

I always feel it’s important to reflect on previous weeks so above are the questions from last week’s column.

I ask you please to ask yourself those questions again and again and really hold yourself accountable.

What do you want to achieve in your life?

What do you want in your life that you do not currently have?

What needs to happen to make that one thing happen?

What small step could you take today to move you towards achieving that goal we set above?

Also last week, we talked about stretching.

I hope you managed to find the video I posted on my FUNdaMENTAL Coach Facebook page too. You can literally just stretch alongside the video as it has been done in real-time so just watch and copy it … easy.

One last note on last week’s article then, we also spoke about our imminent arrival and that we would be finding out the gender of our baby due in June / July.

Well myself and Emma went for a private scan last weekend and guess what… YES … It’s another girl.

Yes, my friend we are having another daughter. Daughter number four is coming.

Roll on the summer and some amazing times.

So back to this week and as promised I wanted to talk about a simple little tool I use with many of my clients and that is the morning primer.

To be honest you can use the morning primer at any point in the day and whenever you may need it, but I really love the primer being used first thing in the morning.

A primer is a tool to get you in the right state of mind.

A tool that helps get you in the zone nice and quickly and ready to rock the world.

You see, we live in a world where our cognitive and physical strengths are taken away from us at every opportunity.

With all the distractions, all the emails, the calls, the notifications, the stress in traffic, constant bombardment of attention absorbing distractions we struggle to live the life we want.

If you have been reading this column for some time, then you will have heard me mention the law of cause and effect before.

It comes back to this in a way.

Doing a morning primer keeps you in control of your day and your life. It keeps you on the CAUSE side of the equation. That is where the magic happens.

For the next week I want to do a morning PRIMER every day when you wake up.

There are many methods and many techniques I could go through right now but let’s just stick with a simple method.

This method takes less than two minutes and involves you breathing, visualising and conducting self-talk to get yourself hyped for the day.

As soon as you wake up I want you to just take two minutes to lay there and get yourself mega in the mood for life and owning it.

It’s imperative that you do this every day and keep focused whilst you do it.

As soon as your alarm goes off I want you to turn it off, get in an exact position which is hands by your side fists clenched, legs crossed and squeeze your glutes – the gluteus maximus muscle is located in the buttocks and is regarded as one of the strongest muscles in the human body.

While doing this I want you visualise your ideal life and just spend a few seconds living it out and seeing all that your future will hold for you.

After you have done this spend the next minute or so affirming to yourself in your head a few strong, positive sentences.

It could be something like, “I am a strong, positive person, I like myself, I am in control of my life and I am here to be an awesome legend.”

That is just an example, but you get what I am trying to get you to do right?

While you are saying those words in your head I want you to get really intense and increase the intensity throughout the minute.

Squeeze your fists harder, squeeze your glutes tighter, visualise deeper a visual image of what you are saying… make it intense and make it really focused.

When the time is right, release and get out of bed. Then crack on with your morning routine.

You become what you think about most of the time.

Your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.

We first make our habits and then our habits make us.

Make this habit be the first thing you do tomorrow morning.

Habits are like a cable.

We weave a strand of it every day and soon it cannot be broken.

Make tomorrow mornings priming routine a habit that you are going to do every day.

I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Happy Thursday and let’s get you being the most awesome version of yourself.
