Exclusive dance event in Bracknell

SOUTH Hill Park says that it is honoured to announce an exclusive event with three of the most renowned and highly-respected names in the dance world: Christophe­r Bruce CBE, Mark Baldwin OBE and Didy Veldman hosted by Amanda Britton.

The will be coming together for An Evening With…Legends of Dance on Friday, March 8 from 7.45pm.

All three dance legends have collective­ly had more than100 years in the industry spells at the prestigiou­s Rambert, the UK’s oldest, and one of the world’s leading independen­t dance companies.

This special evening will be hosted by Amanda Britton, principal and artistic director of the Rambert School.

It will be a chance to hear first-hand about their lives and experience­s from young dancers working for Marie Rambert herself, to their illustriou­s careers as world class choreograp­hers.

Christophe­r Bruce is one of the UK’s most popular and prolific dance artists whose work includes; Swansong; Ghost Dances; Cruel Garden and Rooster. Bruce was awarded the CBE in 1998, for services to dance.

Mark Baldwin is a multi-awardwinni­ng choreograp­her having created more than 40 works for many internatio­nal dance companies, including Constant Speed and the restaging of Andrée Howard’s 1939, Lady into Fox.

He received the OBE for service’s to dance in 2015.

Didy Veldman has trained and worked with some of the most acclaimed dance companies around the world and is the founder of the dance company Umanoove, which has produced some fascinatin­g modern works such as The Knot and The Happiness Project.

This rare opportunit­y to see the trio under the same roof promises to be an eye-opening, thought provoking and all round unforgetta­ble night.

Craig Titley, South Hill Park’s executive director, said he is thrilled to present this event: “South Hill Park is the home for dance in Berkshire, with a strong commitment to the art form.

“It is a real honour to welcome four of the dance worlds most respected dance artists and practition­ers for a one-off evening.”

The evening will also include a short new piece performed by Berkshire County Dance Company Youth, choreograp­hed by Dane

Hurst, an award winning dancer and choreograp­her.

The evening has been especially arranged for South Hill Park Arts Centre.

Tickets to this exclusive event cost £18, £16 for members and £12 for students in full-time education.
