Beware the missing Lion!

-

THERE’S a missing Lion in Woodley & Earley. As part of a drive to recruit new members, Woodley and Earley Lions Club are placing eye-catching ‘Missing Lion’ posters up across the area.

It’s a playful campaign with an important aim; to boost the Club’s membership numbers. The Club are part of Lions Club International; the largest service club organisation in the world and are a registered charity.

It does amazing work in the local community; in their 38 years of existence they have raised over £800,000 through fund raising events large and small. Crucially, every penny is distributed to local causes – the young, the elderly, and the disadvantaged.

But they need help to make all these amazing things happen, as Tim Dixon, Club President, said: “The addition of new members is vital to the on-going existence of the club.

“For 40 years we have been doing great work in the community. I cannot think of any better words than the

Lions mantra of, ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things’ to capture the essence of what we do. By coming together as a group we can really make a difference to people that need help.”

People can join for a cost of just £6 per month; a small price for such a rewarding experience and enjoyable club, who hold varied social events across the year.

Those interested should contact Malcolm Mortimer on 0845 833 9863 or mortimer188@btinternet.com.

People wanting to donate can do so on the Club donate page (bit.ly/ WELionsDonante), while they can also like and follow the Club Facebook page for regular updates on events and activities (missingslions.com).
