Binfield beaten as season comes to a close
Longlevens 4 Binfield 1
THE Moles suffered defeat in their final outing of the season against Lolnglevens as they finished in ninth position in Hellenic Premier.
Binfield created the first big chance of the match as they sought to break the deadlock but James Knight failed to capitalise as the scores remained level.
But the hosts took the lead after they pounced on an error in the Moles defence as Jay Malshanskyj put the ball beyond the onrushing goalkeeper.
Longlevens then missed a big opportunity to double their lead before they eventually did, a flowing team move carved open the Binfield defence before Jonty Welch applied the finishing touch striking it low past the keeper.
The hosts added a third as Malshanskyj added his second of the afternoon with a composed finish after he was set up unselfishly by Shaun O’Connor.
Binfield got themselves on the scoresheet with nothing more than a consolation goal just five minutes from time as Josh Howell converted from the penalty spot.
But the Moles miserable afternoon was to get worse as Malshanskyj rounded his afternoon to add an assist to his two goals as his cross was picked out of the air and finished neatly by Lewis Sourrier.
Binfield manager Roger
Herridge said: “Disappointing end to our season today, it’s been full of ifs, buts and maybes but ultimately since the turn of the year we haven’t found any consistency and have not been good enough on too many occasions.
“Time for reflection and a few weeks rest before thoughts turn to next season.”
