Oaks cruise to victories in friendlies

Wokingham 2s (292-5) beat Wargrave 2s (174 all out)

WOKINGHAM 2s earned a comprehens­ive win over Wargrave 2s as George Horsley hit an unrivalled 115 not out as the Oaks eased to victory.

Wokingham won the toss and elected to bat first, setting Wargrave a target of 295 from 40 overs. Horsley hit 115 runs from 76 balls before retiring not out as Rohan Rohan (45) and Jack Fisher (36) helped to set a challengin­g target for their opponents.

Wargrave were unable to get anywhere near the target set, despite a solid innings from Joe Warren (46). Atharva Patil (3-28) and David Carpenter (3-32) were the pick of the bowlers for the Oaks as they bowled Wargrave all out after 39.4 overs to win convincing­ly by 118 runs.

Wokingham 4s XI (197-9) beat Stoke Green CC 3rd XI (61 all out)

WOKINGHAM 4s also sailed to victory against Stoke Green 3rd XI as Andy Bishop knocked 62 runs from 71 balls while the Oaks bowling attack of Archie Wright, Raj Acharya and Arvind Bhat clinched a quick victory.

Wokingham elected to bat first but got off to a poor start to the innings as opening batsman Mark Simmons and John Barker only managed three runs between them.

The Oaks recovered from their slow start with some consistent batting performanc­es from the middle order as Wright (62) and Ranjeet Sindhu (32) helped to establish an innings total of 197 from 40 overs.

But it was a superb bowling effort which secured victory as the Oaks bowled Stoke Green all out for just 61 from 28 overs. Wright, Acharya and Bhat all took three wickets each to decimate Stoke Green’s innings as they fell well short of their target to give Wokingham a 136 run victory.

Kidmore End (211-7) beat Eversley 1st XI (210 all out)

MEANWHILE, Eversley suffered a narrow defeat in their friendly match against Kidmore End as they lost by three wickets.

Manpreet Singh hit 81 from 70 balls to help Kidmore End reach their target of 210 and despite impressive bowling figures from Eversley bowler Gus Cloete (3-45), they were unable to prevent Kidmore from surpassing their target after 37.3 overs.

Eversley batted first and several consistent innings from the lower middle contribute­d to the total as Joe Howorth hit 40 from 44 and Sam Glaze top scored for his side with 43 from 48 balls. However, they were unable to survive the entire innings as Kidmore bowled them all out for 210 after 36.2 overs.

An inspiring innings from Singh, who hits 14 fours, helped Kidmore rack up a fast total while Mayank Kedia (29), Zac Leonard (23) and Amol Tyagi (28) kept the scoreboard ticking over as they eventually exceeded the total set by Eversley with a few overs and wickets to spare.
