Romantic recital entertains concert goers

-

A PIANIST from the Royal College of Music was the special guest at an Arborfield church last week.

And organisers said that Linda North’s recital was romantic.

She appeared at St Eligius Church in Arborfield Green on Thursday for the quarterly concert.

Organiser Rita Le Var said: “Linda expressed the different pieces with great feeling. The audience wanted to continue dreaming with Olwen in The Dream of Olwen by Charles Williams, a tuneful composition from the film While I Live with wonderful chords and runs.

“Brahms’ Intermezzo in A Op. 118 No. 2 was gentle and melodious with a great feeling of intensity.

This was followed by the contrasting Intermezzo in B flat minor Op. 117 No. 2 with wonderful wistfulness.

“Dainty Rogue by Frank Bridge was full of roguishness and daintiness in the playing,” she continued.

“George Gershwin’s romantic and slightly jazzy The Man I Love was loved by everyone in the audience.

“The performance was hugely appreciated by the audience of 90 people from Arborfield Green and the surrounding areas.”

Ms North studied singing and piano at the Royal College of Music and worked subsequently in concert production and artist management. For the past 10 years she has pursued further focussed study of the piano.

Now Mrs Le Var planning for the summer concert, which will take place on Thursday, August 1 from 12.30pm, again at the church. Entry is free with a retiring collection. There is also a buffet lunch for which places should be booked.
