Royal county is good at giving

BIG-HEARTED Berkshire people are among the most generous in the country.

And donating to disabled charities is the number one priority with healthcare and community groups close behind.

The findings come in a survey by the specialist insurers, the Ecclesiastical Group which asked over 30,000 people across the country if they supported a good cause.

In Berkshire, people aged between 46 and 55 year were the most likely to support a charity than any other age group with the over 55s opting for those working with the disabled.

Millennials favoured charities focused on health with community groups coming a close third.

According to Ecclesiastical, people living in the South East are the most supportive of charitable organisations.

Ecclesiastical has launched a Movement for Good awards scheme which will see a total of £1 million given to charities this summer.

“With nominations still open we hope many more charities are put forward for a potential £1,000 award, which we know can make a huge difference to the work that charities do.

“So far the bulk of the nominations have been made in the South of England and by over 35s.

“We want to urge younger generations across the UK, to also get involved and nominate a cause close to their hearts.”

Winners will be drawn at random and the more times a charity is nominated the more chance it has of being selected.
