Half-term fun coming to South Hill Park

-

WITH half-term just around the corner, South Hill Park has prepared a feast of family-friendly fun to

The Bracknell-based arts centre is organising activities and workshops over the break with something for all ages.

For budding pottery artists who like to get ‘hands on’ with their approach to art, there is a Parent and Child Play With Clay (5-8yrs), Tue 28 May, 10am-noon or Play With Clay (8-12yrs), Fri 31 May, 10am-12noon.

An Art Factory (4-11yrs) runs from 10am to noon on Thursday, May 30. Sessions will include printing and badge-making with help from an expert tutor.

South Hill Park host will host family-screenings with family discounted tickets on selected blockbuster hits.

Films include Captain Marvel (12A), which is being shown from Friday, May 24 to Monday, May 27.

Carol Denvers becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes in this complex, compelling and exciting film – perfect for thrill seekers and actionmovie fans.

Or perhaps you may prefer to snuggle up for the life-action remake of the classic Disney movie about a baby elephant with oversized ears, Dumbo (PG), Wednesday, May 29 to Sunday, June 2.

This is a new take on the familiar tale and is a visual treat for all put together with heart, incredible animation, music and nods to the original.

If just watching a movie is not enough, SOTA goes to the Movies (Friday, May 31 – Saturday, June 1 7pm, Saturday matinee 2.30pm) could be just the thing. It features young talent of today and the future stars of tomorrow.

School of the Arts (SOTA) say they will let your imagination run wild with sequences of dance, songs and musical numbers inspired by cinema. Perfect for youngsters who would like to take up an interest in theatre and the arts.

And there’s more to come.

In July, the critically-acclaimed, award-nominated children’s musical Honk! Comes to the stage after a London run. Described variously as “flawless”, “miraculous” and “relentlessly excellent”, this musical reimagining of The Ugly Duckling is an ‘Egg-stravaganza’, bursting with puppetry, magic… and water guns. It will be performed on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 at 10.30am.

And South Hill Park’s summer show is Grimm Tales (It runs from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25 Aug and from Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 1).

The arts centre said that audiences should gather round the Wilde Theatre stage for spellbinding story-telling and gripping tales that will entertain and surprise all ages.

There will also be a summer school for ages six to 17, where they can learn and take part in a new production of Peter Pan. This hugely popular activity runs from Tuesday, July 30 to Sunday, August 11, but places are being snapped up now.
