Diamond anniversary marked with Bowls England friendly

-

MAIDEN Erlegh will mark their 75th anniversary as a bowls club with a celebratory match against Bowls England on Sunday.

President Hazel Marke, from Alton Social

Bowls Club in Hampshire, will bring a 24-strong Bowls England side to contest a six-rink mixed fixture against members of Maiden Erlegh Bowls Club.

The Bowls England side will consist of members of the current Bowls England Presidential Team, including Senior Vice

President Paul Robson (Hampshire) and Junior Vice President Terri Keen (Buckinghamshire).

Hazel said: “I am really looking forward to bringing a Bowls England representative side to Maiden Erlegh Bowls Club to mark the club’s 75th anniversary.

“A celebration match against a Bowls England representative side is an ideal way for a club to celebrate their special occasion in style.

“We hope that our visit will leave a lasting impression on the club and ensure many new friendships are made both on and off the green.”

Paul Dieppe, President of Maiden Erlegh BC, added: “The club is delighted that Bowls England will help us to enjoy our special anniversary with a celebration match. After 75 years the club continues to thrive and is looking forward to the future.

“We can’t wait to welcome President Hazel and her team to Maiden Erlegh and hope they relish the occasion as much as we will.”

The club will be presented with a Bowls England pennant to celebrate the occasion, whilst the best performing rinks for both sides will be awarded with a commemorative spoon to mark their success.
