Come along to our open days

- JAKE MORRISON

THANK you to all those who have submitted feedback on our public consultation available on our website - www. citizensadvicewokingham.org. uk/feedback

We are very interested to hear your thoughts and comments on Citizens Advice Wokingham, how you rate our services and what more you think we could do to support the people of Wokingham borough - including looking to fill any gaps in services.

If you do not have access to the internet you can call in to our Wokingham or Woodley offices or write to me at Jake Morrison, Citizens Advice Wokingham, Waterford House, Erftstadt Court, Wokingham, RG40 2YF.

Volunteering

Over the last few weeks we have profiled a number of our great volunteers, giving their spare time on a weekly basis to support our charity.

All of our team make a difference and ensure that we can continue to provide good quality advice and information services available free to anyone in Wokingham.

Whether that contribution be through direct contact with our clients, or admin/back office support that helps make that happen – we value everyone’s contribution.

Along with a number of changes since I joined six months ago, we introduced monthly open days.

An opportunity for a behind the scenes look at what we do, a chance to speak to volunteers in similar roles, meet our training manager and staff team, hear about what we do and ask any questions you may have.

Our next open days are Friday, May 17, from 11.30am to 12.30pm and Thursday, May 23 from 2pm-3pm.

If you are interested in attending please register at citizensadvicewokingham.org.uk/volunteering or email volunteer@citizensadvicewokingham.org.uk

Universal Credit

We have had our first month of a National Citizens Advice and Department for Work and Pensions project - Help to Claim: Universal Support.

On a local basis, Citizens Advice charities help individuals or couples identify whether Universal Credit is the right benefit for them, and discuss and assess how much support they may need to make that application.

This can involve securing appropriate ID, setting up an email address or just accessing our public access computers to fill in the application - right through to us helping you complete it in full.

Our Woodley office has a dedicated Universal Credit session on a Tuesday from 9.30am-2.30pm where you can drop in or book a pre-arranged appointment for support.

We also offer this service at any other time that we are open so call in to one of our drop-in sessions to discuss next steps.

Other organisations

We are keen to work with other organisations and charities in the area working to support the people of Wokingham.

Every month we have a development day for our team, with staff, volunteers and trustees dropping in for a team meeting with presentations and updates, followed by an afternoon of workshops with many different topics.

We are always open to hearing about the other great work in the area where we can refer or signpost our clients. Or maybe you would just like to make us aware of an issue trend?

Please contact nicky.phull@citizensadvicewokingham.org.uk to arrange a convenient session.
