THEE are just over two weeks to the 3 Counties Cycle Ride 2019 - so register now!

The banners are up! Cyclists are registerin­g fast to book their place for this year's 3 Counties Cycle Ride on Sunday 2 June, starting and finishing at Garth Hill College. Get your helmets ready!

"The 3 Counties Cycle Ride is an event for cycling families and the seasoned enthusiast alike," explains organiser Dave Donaldson of the Rotary Club of Bracknell. "You can choose from the scenic 15-mile, 33-mile or 54-mile routes which wind through Berkshire, sometimes dipping into Oxfordshir­e and Buckingham­shire. The routes are clearly signed with frequent marshals and drink stations. And at the finish, a medal, a certificat­e and even a massage awaits you!"

Full details can be downloaded from the website www.3CCR.org and all entrants are encouraged to enrol on line. Book your place now for just £19 (compared to £25 on the day). Under 16 entry fee is £9.

Last electronic entries should be submitted no later than Friday 31May.

The entry fee covers the cost of certificat­es, medals, T-shirts, and printing. Any surplus goes directly to the nominated UK charities.

Supporters of the event include Tesco (Mars bars), Fraser's Retail (bottled water), Print Room Group, Cycling UK Reading, Berkshire Cycle Co (support vehicle), Emerald Massage, Garth Hill College,

The Old Manor Bracknell, The Stag and Hounds Binfield, The Lookout, and local Guides and Scouts.

"Since the cycle ride was founded in 1983" says Dave Donaldson, "well over £600,000 have been raised for our charities. Last year more than £12,000!"

"This year's principal beneficiar­ies will be Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Breakthrou­gh Learning,

the Bracknell Night Shelter, and the Rotary Club of Bracknell Trust Fund ."

Previous beneficiar­ies include Macmillan Cancer Support, the

British Heart Foundation, the Stroke Associatio­n and Alzheimer’s Society.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bracknell, the 3 Counties Cycle Ride is strongly supported by dozens of local Rotarians, notably the members of Easthampst­ead Rotary Club.

Other community events this summer supported by Easthampst­ead Rotarians include the Bracknell Community Day celebratio­ns in the Lexicon's Bond Square on Saturday 15 June with Music, Song and Dance; the Bracknell Samaritans 5k or 10k

Fun Run plus the Teddy Bear Kids Run at Easthampst­ead Park Community School on Saturday 28 June; and to finish, the Bracknell Together Walk on Sunday 7 July, a stroll or brisk walk around South Hill Park for all the family.
