The Kennet League started this week with Wokingham A playing in Division 1, Wokingham B in Division 2 and Wokingham C in Division 3.

Wokingham A started their campaign with an away fixture to Reading. Mike Drinkwater, Alex Thomson, Brian Chinneck, Ron Swan, Dave Fielding and Barry Woodley who was promoted from the B team. Wokingham lost the match overall by 88 shots to 67 with Wokingham winning on one rink, skipped by Gerry Deeves. Wokingham skips first.

Wokingham entertaine­d Windsor & Eton Ladies on the Reading Road green in a two rink match.

Wokingham won the match by 42 shots to 19.

Top triple for Wokingham was skipped by Jenni MacGregor along with Barbara Woolley and Nicci Evelegh who won by 14 shots. Wokingham skips first.

Ladies Top Club County Competitio­n

Wokingham started their Top Club County Competitio­n with an away match at Windsor & Eton.

Wokingham successful­ly won the Singles and Pairs and drew the Triples losing the Fours.

Wokingham who will now face Maidenhead Town in the next round.

Mixed Friendly

Wokingham travelled to play Fleet United in a Mixed Friendly match.

Wokingham had a comfortabl­e win by 85 shots to 48.

Top triple for Wokingham was skipped by David Smith along with Steve Denney and Joy Deeves who won their game by 26 shots.

Wokingham tourists travel to Herefordsh­ire

A touring party of 55 bowlers and eight non-bowlers descended on Herefordsh­ire for the annual bowling tour.

Matches took place at six clubs during the visit.

Eastnor BC - Wokingham lost the match by 145

shots to 104.

Ledbury BC - Wokingham lost the match by 103

shots to 84.

St. Martin's BC - Wokingham lost the match by

114 shots to 83.

Hereford BC - Wokingham lost the match by

108 shots to 113.

Leominster BC - Wokingham lost the match by

97 shots to 90.

Kingsland BC - Wokingham won the match by

125 shots to 96.

Maiden Erlegh Bowls Club

MAIDEN Erlegh played a friendly against Harwell on Sunday was unfortunat­ely a loss for MEBC winning on only one rink and an overall result of 65 – 82.

MEBC enjoyed a convincing 12 to 2 point win against Wokingham C in the KL league, winning on 3 of the 4 rinks. 108 - 38 shots (34 - 4, 14 -19, 32 - 9, 28 - 6), with Robin Rapley skipping the top rink.

9th May KLV-A, a great victory over Suttons 'A' team winning on all rinks to pick up all ten points.

MEBC played Palmer

Park in the KLV-B league.

MEBC only won on only one rink for an overall 75 - 33 gaining only 2 of the 10 points available.

In the KLV-C league vs Woodley B, a closely fought game which MEBC narrowly lost on two rinks.

However Alan Ward managed to skip the third rink to a convincing

22 - 11 win, giving MEBC an overall win 53 - 47 and picking up six of the 10 points available.
