Irish bolster squad with two more additions
LONDON Irish has announced two more signings this week as they strengthened their forward line with the additions of Australian international Adam Coleman and prop Will GoodrickClarke from Richmond.
Standing at 6ft 8in and weighing 122kg, Coleman will add height and power to the Exiles front line and brings vast experience having been capped for his country on 31 occasions.
“I’m really looking forward to joining London Irish. It’s been clear talking to Declan and Les that they’ve got big ambitions for the club, and as well as a good squad already in place, they are making some exciting signings as well,” said Coleman.
“The plans for moving back into London look really good as well, and it will be a privilege to be a part of that journey.
23yearold GoodrickClarke joins from Richmond having impressed last season which saw him named in The Rugby Paper’s 2018/19 Championship Dream Team, as voted for by the coaches from the division.
“I am excited to be signing for London Irish and look forward to joining up for preseason in June,” said GoodrickClarke
“Having played against Irish this season, I know their current front rowers are great players, so I look forward to working with them next season.”
London Irish director or rugby Declan Kidney is pleased with the signings of Coleman and GoodrickClarke and believes they are exciting prospects for the Exiles.
“We have a strong set of forwards, but we know that we need strength in depth if we want to be competitive. Adam is a quality player and we’re delighted that he has chosen to join us,” said Kidney.
“Will has the attributes that we are looking for in a prop. His set piece is solid and he works hard around the field. I’m delighted he will be a London Irish player next season.”
Further to the new signings, Irish have announced that Conor Gilsenan and Lovejoy Chawatama have extended their deals at the club.
“Conor and Lovejoy are both great clubmen. They work hard on the training ground and always represent the club when they wear the London Irish colours. It is great they have agreed to be with us next season,” added Kidney.
